Swarthmore is a leader in the carbon pricing dialogue within higher education through our internal Carbon Charge, campus education, conversations with peer institutions to share our model, and civic engagement.

Internship programs such as thePresident’s Sustainability Research Fellowshipand collaborations with local communities help our students to learn by leading as well as to take stewardship over vital sustainability challenges.

The College has committed to reducing its overall waste streams, increasing its capability for composting in order to divert waste from incineration, and educating the campus community on waste sorting best practices.
